Harold Wilmer Feathers, 71, Tyrone, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 24, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Claysburg (Polecat), son of the late John P. and Madeline (Burket) Feathers.
He married Fern L. Micale on June 5, 1964. She survives along with their sons, Paul Richard and Richard Paul, and grandchildren, Ashley Lynn, Dakotah, Richard Jr., Nanette and Joshua Feathers.
He then married Carol L. (Conklin) Cashman on Sept. 16, 2000, who is a retired Altoona Area School District music teacher. She survives along with her daughter, Michelle Rimbeck and husband, Ryan, and their children, Amber Longenecker and Jay Rimbeck.
Also surviving are his sister, Barbara E. Taylor; a niece, Brooke; a nephew, John; and cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.
Harold attended school in the Claysburg-Kimmel School District. He retired as a timber cutter, working many years in Elk County. He attended Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where he kept Sunday school class attendance and was the groundskeeper for the church and cemetery. He and Pastor John Leatherman were close friends. He also had many friends in Northwood, including the Rev. Tim Young of Northwood Baptist Chapel.
Harold enjoyed spending time with classmates at class gatherings, camping, four-wheeling, model trains, lawn care, having a chain saw sharpening shop, and his beloved shelties, Ruby and Samantha.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 until the 8 p.m. funeral service Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Pastor John Leatherman officiating. Harold's church family will serve a funeral meal from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Newry Lions Club. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
