Gene A. Biddle, 78, Roaring Spring, died Sunday morning at home. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Levi S. and Etta M. (Appleman) Biddle. He married M. Louise Carper on Sept. 22, 1956, in Woodbury.
Surviving are his wife; three children: Cindy L. Steele and husband, Philip E., of Newburg, Duane A. and wife, Linda, of Roaring Spring and Teri L. of Roaring Spring; four grandchildren: Dustin Steele and wife, Angie, Danae Klock and husband, David, Nicholas Biddle and wife, Elizabeth, and Dana Steele; and three great- grandchildren: Hailey and Isaiah Steele, and Aubrey Klock.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles O. Biddle.
Gene was a 1951 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and attended Juniata College and the Altoona School of Commerce. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He retired from Appleton Papers, Roaring Spring, after 40 years of service and he was CEO and General Manager of the Spring Mill EFCU until June 2013.
Gene was a member of the Woodbury Church of God, where he served as a Life Elder, Sunday school teacher, former council president, and delegate to the Eastern Region Conference. He had served as secretary/treasurer of Iron Masters Country Club, member and past president of the Cove Lions Club and member and past president of the Northern Bedford County School District Board.
Gene enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pirates, Steelers and Penn State, and helping on the family farm. He loved spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in the Woodbury Church of God, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, by Pastor Charles Riley. Interment will follow in Replogle Cemetery.
Contributions in Gene's memory may be given to the Woodbury Church of God. Arrangements are by the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
