Elvin W. "Bill" Emeigh, 76, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday at home after an extended illness.
He was born in Kimmel Township, Bedford County, son of Charles C. and Edna P. (Moore) Emeigh. He married Carol E. Robbins on Jan. 19, 1961, in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Karen E.; a son, Donald E. and wife, Patti; six grandchildren: William, Mathew, Jessica, Heather, Wes and Amanda; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Madge Remic; a brother, Charles C. "Bud"; and his dog, Snickers.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alta and Ellen Smith; and two brothers: George and James Smith.
Bill was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-59 and with the Pennsylvania State Police from 1963-91. He was then a Blair County Sheriff's Deputy from 1992-2007.
Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Jaffa Shrine. He enjoyed NASCAR.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, by Pastor Wayne Ayer. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
