Jeanette Elizabeth Varner, 90, Tyrone, went home to be with her Lord Monday at UPMC Altoona.
She was the daughter of Harry D. and Edith Virginia (Walker) Biddle. She married Jack Lee Varner on Oct. 16, 1947, and he died Oct. 31, 2011.
Surviving are two sons: Terry (Sondra) of State College and Thomas W. (April) of Culpeper, Va.; two daughters: Jacqueline L. Friday (Donald L.) and Lauretta J. Dane (Scott) of Tyrone; 13 grandchildren: Chesna Kyle (Kurt), Erin, Eric, Curtis, Shawn, Alyssa Conway (Paul), Alanna, Jessica E. Grazier (Benjamin), Luke Friday (Megan), Brandi "Fox" Grebe, Mariah Kramer (Grebe), Sarah Dane and Nathan; 10 great-grandchildren: Karah, Thaydra, Marley, Lloyd, Madison, Isabel, Alexandra, Alexander, Julia and Eva; and a sister, Evelyn Meek of Harrisburg.
Jeanette attended Tyrone Area schools. She loved her Lord, and over the years she enjoyed the fellowship of the EUB, Northwood Baptist, Warriors Mark Bible Baptist and Grace Baptist churches. She had worked in her early years at Grier School, then Pike Gardner's Peanuts and Gardners Candies. She was a homemaker and loved making pies, canning and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Grace Baptist Church, 2308 Adams Ave., Tyrone, Pastor Roy G. Garthwaite officiating. Interment will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery. A luncheon will be served after the service at Grace Baptist Church.
