Singer and songwriter Gwen Smith will share pizza and time with teen girls in sixth grade and older from 6 to 9 p.m. March 28 at the Grace Fellowship Activity Center in Duncansville.
Smith, a mother of three teenagers, said she will speak to them about "how the choices we make can impact our lives" at the Teen Encounter event.
To illustrate, she related a story about her daughter, Kennedy.
When Kennedy was 4 years old, she wanted to play soccer. Gwen took her to the first practice and was thrilled with her daughter's response to the sport.
"She was game on. She was really focused," Smith said. "It was so much fun. She's a soccer girl," her mother concluded.
Her dad took Kennedy to the next practice and observed a different reaction.

She didn't concentrate on what was happening on the field.
Instead, she would run over to her dad and kiss him, or run over and give him a hug or ask for a sip of water, Smith said.
"She was distracted. She wanted to spend time with her daddy," she said.
Smith equated it to seeing God as a daddy and wanting to get his attention in practical ways. She said teens can long for God and allow him to impact their challenges and choices.
Her session will include stories and songs.
"It will be a good time, with worship and singing and hopefully, it will be inspiring as well," Smith said.
