Covering the bases
LEADING OFF: 1B Stetson Allie's absence from the lineup continued Wednesday. He has missed the last three games for the Curve, and on Monday was pulled from the lineup with an illness. Allie was activated on Saturday after missing more than a week with a concussion. It's unclear if his absence is related to the concussion.
SAFE AT FIRST: U Andy Vasquez's stolen base in the fourth inning gave the Curve their fourth player with 10 or more swipes this season. Drew Maggi leads the team with 17. The club as whole has 83 steals, but the runners have been caught 48 times.
STEALING SECOND: When the Curve return home to play Harrisburg on Friday, they could see another former player. OF Quincy Latimore (2011-12) has been hitting .284 with four home runs and 17 RBIs with the Senators. Stefan Welch (Portland) and Hector Gimenez (New Hampshire) have both appeared with the opposition at PNG Field.
ROUNDING THIRD: Former Curve RHP Casey Sadler (2013) and 1B Matt Hague (2010) will represent the International League at the Triple-A All-Star Game. The contest is set for July 16 in Durham, N.C.
HEADING HOME: Sadler, though, did have his second-shortest outing of the year Wednesday against Louisville. He went 5 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on nine hits.
