Doggie Dash set for July 26 in Tyrone
TYRONE -?Dogs and the humans who accompany them are being recruited to participate in the fifth annual Doggie Dash 5K Walk/Run to be held July 26 Tyrone.
The event begins and ends at Reservoir Park and is being held to benefit Mending Hearts, the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society and Happy Paws Happy Homes. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate with or without dogs.
Runners participate with their pets in a previous Doggie Dash in?Tyrone.
Registration will be held from 7 to 8 a.m., and the race will start at 8:15 a.m. Awards in a variety of categories will be given immediately following the race.
Again this year is a 1-Mile Fun Run for children ages 11 and younger. This event will start after the awards presentation.
According to Deb Moore, Dash coordinator, this is the third year the Doggie Dash has been held at Reservoir Park, which offers adequate parking, restroom and facilities and water fountains. "The park is a beautiful place," she said, "and we are pleased to once again be able to bring so many dog lovers and their canine companions to the park this year. The course will go through the park and out into the borough as well.
"We welcome all runners and walkers as the event is geared to raise funds for two very worthwhile organizations that provide care, shelter, medical treatment and other needs for homeless animals in our area," Moore said.
The planning committee invites area residents to come to the park to cheer on the participants at the start of the race and welcome them back after the nearly 5-mile race. People who do not participate but may wish to make a donation for the benefiting organizations can do so the day of the race by giving their contributions to any member of the planning committee
In order to be guaranteed a T-shirt and a gift for your dog, participants must register by Friday.
Participants can register at tyronedoggiedash.org.
