Family VBS scheduled

Faith Baptist Church of Altoona, 315 40th St., will hold their daily Family Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:45 p.m. from Sunday, July 7, through Thursday, July 11. Special worship planned

Team Effort will be leading in worship, sharing testimonies and messages by Harry Houck, titled “Your Comfort Zone,” at the 10:45 a.m. service on Sunday, June 30, at Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd.

Vacation Bible School set

Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., will host Scuba Vacation Bible School for all children ages three through 5th grade from 6 to 8 p.m. from Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2. Saturate Altoona closing

The final night of 2024 for Saturate Altoona will be Sunday, June 30, at Heritage Plaza, downtown Altoona. Blessing booths giving out free food and refreshments will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A service of Worship and the Word will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A prayer tent will be open and staffed from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a Baptism service at the end of the worship service.

Partner to visit

Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd., will host an international partner, who will be sharing details of work in Spain, at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 7.

Free VBS planned

Riggles Gap Bible Church, 613 Lear Road, Altoona, will host “Operation Sword and Shield” Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. from Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26. Program will be open to children ages four through 12th grade. Admission is free; for transportation, call 814-946-3376.

Free concert offered

Soloist and area native Jim Worthing will perform a free concert at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, at Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd.

Anniversary event set

Old Keller Reformed Church, 8162 Fox Run Road, Williamsburg, will hold its 178th Anniversary Celebration at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 4. All are invited to join in celebration of faith and history.

Symposium scheduled

The Circle of The Square will host its 6th annual SATOR Square Symposium at Penn State Altoona Eiche Library from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, July 15. Free event, but registration required by calling 814-934-5443.

Musical to be presented

The Well of Blair County and Spring of Hope Community Church, 605 Burns Ave., Altoona, will present the musical comedy “Smoke on the Mountain” at 7 p.m. from Thursday, June 27, to Saturday, June 29. Tickets not required. Free-will offering accepted. In addition to the production, a pulled pork dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 28.

Vacation Bible School planned

Restored Apostolic Ministries of Altoona, 1500 N. 6th Ave., will hold “Our Great Big Amazing God” Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, through Friday, Aug. 9, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, and Sunday, Aug. 11. Free music, games, snacks and lessons.

Anniversary event set

Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. 4th St., Altoona, will hold its 20th Anniversary celebration beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 30, with a combined worship service. A celebratory picnic with dessert bar will immediately follow the service. The celebration will include opening the time capsule from 20 years ago and dedicating a memorial garden. Free concert set

The Gospel group New Journey will hold a free concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church, 1955 Johnstown Road, East Freedom. Free will offering will be accepted.

Food pantry scheduled

The Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 28th Street and Union Avenue, Altoona, will hold a food pantry box distribution from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28. Pick up is by appointment; call 814-207-8293 by Wednesday.

Concert planned

Jaggard First United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, will host a concert featuring The Sky Family Celtic Revival at 7 p.m. Friday, June 28. The Sky Family hail from Prince Edward Island, Canada, and their high energy Celtic music selections will make for an exciting and uplifting evening. No tickets required. Free will offering accepted.

Quilting ministry offered

Zion Lutheran Church invites women of all ages to attend Stitch and Sew in Zion’s Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. No experience is required to help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Bring a bagged lunch, if you’d like. For more information, call the Church office at 814-695-0091.

Free concert planned

Real Life Church, 621 W. Pitt St., will host a Christian concert featuring B-Shoc at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Picnics in the Park planned

The Well of Blair County will host Picnics in the Park at 5:15 p.m. Tuesdays at Grove Memorial Park, Sixth Avenue and 23rd Street. The events include a family meal followed by a short lesson, activities and games.
