The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities for May. The library will be closed May 24, 25 and 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

n Canasta and Mah Jongg games are held at 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome.

n Maker Mondays are held all day Mondays in the Children’s Room. A station will be set up with a different craft, challenge or activity each week.

n Needlework & Arts Group is held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring your own materials and projects for this crafting club intended for adults.

n Storytime and Craft will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

n Twisted Stitchers meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Bring your own project, yarn and hooks; spend time with other crafters.

n Dance, Sing and Play! 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, May 8, 15, 22 and 29. Dance, sing, shake the parachute and some shaky eggs too.

n Lego Club meets from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Bring your imagination, and the library will supply the Legos. Intended for school-aged children.

n Paws to Read will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10. Meet and read to pets from the Central PA Humane Society. Children ages 5 and up are welcome with their caregivers.

n Altoona/Blair County Photo Society (ABCPS) will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 5. The Photo Society gathers to discuss a variety of topics, including taking and editing pictures. Learn something new with any type of camera or smart phone. New members are welcome. Call 814-207-1479 with questions.

n The Inspirational Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8. This month’s book selection is “The Healer” by Dee Henderson.

n “Container Gardening” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 12. Plant your own container garden with the Blair County Conservation District. Just bring a 14-inch container or smaller and your gardening gloves, and BCCD will supply the rest. To register, visit the library and prepay the $15 fee.

n Women Writers Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. This month’s book is “Olga Dies Dreaming” by Xochitl Gonzalez.

n The Best of Times Book Club will meet at

2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, to discuss “This Other Eden” by Paul Harding. All are welcome.
