City man arrested on drug charges
Police: O’Connor says he’s ‘the guy they go to’ if people need drugs
A city man faces drug charges after allegedly telling undercover officers “if anyone needs stuff, he is the guy they go to.”
Brent Alan O’Connor, 33, was arraigned June 15 on two felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, three felony charges of criminal use of a communication facility, three misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $100,000 and was posted by a bondsman that same day, court documents state.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, undercover officers with the state police vice unit and the Office of Attorney General were conducting surveillance at a bar on Allegheny Street, Hollidaysburg. During the March 14 incident, O’Connor said he had an ounce of coke and $10,000 in his pocket and two ounces of coke in his trunk.
When the undercover officers walked out, one asked O’Connor for his number. O’Connor allegedly invited the officer to “do a line,” court documents state.
While the offer was declined, the undercover officer said he wanted to make a purchase, got O’Connor’s number and later engaged him in a number of controlled buys, according to court documents.
On June 14, state police and the Blair County Drug Task Force conducted surveillance on O’Connor and made a traffic stop on his vehicle on the 1900 block of Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona. The stop was due to excessive window tint, the report states.
The Altoona police K9 assisted on scene and O’Connor told police he had a firearm in his vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Police were granted permission to search the vehicle and O’Connor, and found two plastic bags of cocaine in his right watch pocket. A Smith and Wesson 9mm was found in the vehicle, the report states.
O’Connor’s preliminary hearing is set for June 25 before Magisterial District Judge Paula M. Aigner.
