Drug trafficker gets prison time
Coker will serve at least six years for his part in meth ring
A Clearfield man will serve at least six years in prison on methamphetamine trafficking charges, according to acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Toby Coker, 50, was sentenced on Thursday to 80 months in prison, followed by six years of supervised release.
Coker was one of 38 people indicted in June 2020 after an 18-month investigation into a methamphetamine ring in Clearfield, Centre, Clinton and Erie counties.
Among those named in the indictment were residents of Winburne, Morrisdale, Houtzdale, Erie, Sandy Ridge, Woodland, Philipsburg and Brownsville, according to court documents.
It was alleged that John Christopher Bisbee of Erie and Alexis Brolin Jr. of Allport spearheaded the organization that distributed 1,000 grams or more of methamphetamine or 10 kilograms or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, according to earlier reports.
Coker was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in both February 2020 and December 2019, the indictment states. He was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of methamphetamine that he distributed to others.
Bisbee was sentenced in December to 21 years in prison, followed by five years of probation. Brolin was sentenced in September to 17 years in prison, followed by five years of probation.
