Stahl
Margie Ann (Kobuck) Stahl, 84, of Tyrone, died Thursday at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters. Margie was a daughter of the late Frank P. and Sarah (Reese) Kobuck.
On June 21, 1997, she married William Stahl of Tyrone. He died Jan. 11, 2015. She had been previously married to Ronald Eaken Sr.
Surviving are children, Ronald Eaken Jr. (Tammy) and Kim Renee Pannebaker (Gary), both of Port Matilda.; three grandchildren: Jessica Paul, Heidi Woomer and Ronald Eaken III; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Kobuck Jr. of Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Diane Day; great-granddaughter, Kaydynce Eaken; and great-grandson, Nicholas Woomer.
Margie was a 1958 graduate of Tyrone High School. In 1972, Margie attended Central PA Vo-Tech to become a licensed practical nurse.
She was employed as a nurse at Centre Community Hospital in State College and JC Blair Hospital in Huntingdon. Margie found her love for the elderly when going to work at Moran Nursing Home in Bellwood. Going to school to become nursing home administrator, she decided to start her own nursing home business in 1979, in her own home in Bald Eagle, known as Eaken Rest Home. This expanded to Greentree Village and Maplewood Manor in Bald Eagle and Port Matilda. At one point, she had over 60 residents between three locations. In 2000, she sold the business and went into retirement. She later came out of retirement to work as a med nurse at Colonial Courtyard until she was 72 years old. At 76, after Bill’s death, she went to work at Marianna’s Hoagies until her illness in 2017, just for something to do.
Margie was a very optimistic person, always trying to pass this on to all those around her.
She was a lifetime member of Bald Eagle United Methodist Church. Margie loved her church and God.
Margie was a fan of Penn State and Steelers football. She enjoyed playing bingo — going on trips all over the East Coast with Bill to play bingo — trips to the casinos and playing the lottery. She cherished her cats, Meka and Jennie. Her biggest joy was being “Grammy” to her grandchildren.
Family wishes to thank the fourth floor staff at Cedarwood. Their love for Margie was truly felt and really appreciated during this difficult time.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. until the noon service Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, Sue O’Brien officiating. Burial will be private.
Memorial gifts may be made to Bald Eagle United Methodist Church, Tyrone.
