Jean Green
Jean Green, 93, of Altoona, died Tuesday evening at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Verna (Rhine) Seedenburg.
She married James B. Green in August of 1994 in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2000.
Surviving are three children: daughter, Jan Hedden of Spring Grove; daughter, Jil Young (Tate) of Goldsboro, N.C.; and son, John Patterson Jr. (Brenda) of Tyrone. Jean had two stepchildren: stepson, Randal Green (Mary Ellen); and
stepdaughter, Sharon Green (Tony) of Altoona. She had eight
grandchildren: Zeke (Karlie), Caroline, Miriah (Allen), Laura Jean, Jessica (Warren), Brandon (Jenna), Michael (Mandy) and Brett (Sarah). Jean also had eight great-grandchildren: Rae Ellen, Hunter, Lukas, Colton, Jamis, Cole, Ethan and Ela.
Jean was a member of Mardorf United Methodist Church in Altoona.
She was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1952 graduate of West Penn Hospital School of Nursing.
Jean retired as a registered nurse from Van Zandt VA Medical Center in 1994 following 13 years of service.
She was an avid Bridge player at the Master level, enjoyed playing Mahjong and loved to bowl.
Jean was a devoted Penn State and Steelers football fan. Weekends were for football and family, in that order. Despite always being cold, she also enjoyed snowmobiling with her late husband, Jim, and family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at
4 p.m. with the Rev. James House officiating.
Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
