Kuntz, Sheehan spark Red Devil boys, girls to victories over rivals

CRESSON — The Central Cambria boys and girls defeated Penn Cambria, 15-50, in high school cross country action on Wednesday.

Dom Kuntz finished in 17 minutes, 46 seconds to win the boys race and was followed by teammates Ethan Haycisak, Derek McConnell, Reed Takacs and Max Cafazza.

Abigail Sheehan won the girls race in 19:49 and was followed by teammates Paige Alexander, Alaina Long, Keira Link and Alaina Sheehan.

Tigers sweep

SIDMAN — The Hollidaysburg boys beat Forest Hills, 24-34, and Windber, 15-46, while the Lady Tigers topped Forest Hills, 21-38, and Windber, 15-47.

Sam Chestney led the Hollidaysburg boys with a second-place finish behind Forest Hills’ Tyler Caron, and Adalai Carney led the Hollidaysburg girls with a runner-up finish behind Forest Hills’ Isabella Aescherl.

Forest Hills swept Windber with the boys winning, 19-39, and the girls prevailing, 21-36.

CLEARFIELD — The Bellwood-Antis boys topped Clearfield, 26-31, but fell to Philipsburg-Osceola, 24-31, while the B-A girls downed P-O, 17-44, but was nipped by Clearfield, 28-29.

The Clearfield girls beat P-O, 15-48, and the P-O boys defeated Clearfield, 25-32.

Bellwood’s Julie Kraft and Blake Pennington finished 1-2 in the girls race. The Lady Blue Devils are 8-3 while the boys are 5-6.

MARTINSBURG — The Bishop Carroll boys topped Central, 24-31, Northern Bedford, 15-50, and Williamsburg, 23-34, while the BC girls beat Central, 15-50, Williamsburg, 15-50, and Northern Bedford, 15-50.

The Central boys topped NBC, 15-50, and Williamsburg, 23-33, while the Williamsburg boys beat NBC, 15-50.

The Central girls defeated NBC, 13-23, and Williamsburg, 16-20, and the Williamsburg girls topped NBC, 15-50.

Central’s Braden Allison won the boys race, followed by Northern Bedford’s Dhylan Miller and Carroll’s Joe Phillips, and Central’s Lanee Berkhimer won the girls race, followed by NBC’s Savanna Hershberger and Williamsburg’s Ava Dixon.

RURAL VALLEY — The Portage boys downed West Shamokin, 25-30, while the Portage girls lost to West Shamokin, 21-35.

Nolan Westover won the boys race for Portage with Logan Gentile finishing second.

Portage’s Josephine White placed third in the girls race.

Penns Manor raced but did not field a full team.
