Pitt Panther signs FA deal with LA

From Mirror reports

PITTSBURGH — Pitt Panther Blake Hinson will sign a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to NBA league sources on Thursday night.

Hinson will look to join former Pitt teammate Carlton Carrington, who was selected No. 14 overall by the Washington Wizards, on an NBA roster for the 2024-25 season.

Day 2 of the NBA Draft was held on Thursday.

Two-way contracts allow for a player to play for both the NBA and the G League while being under the control of an NBA franchise for the duration of the season. These contracts are limited to two per team and can only be given to players with less than four years of NBA experience. Players on a two-way contract do not count against an NBA team’s 15-man roster.

Hinson, a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2024, averaged 18.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, while scoring 20 or more points 15 times. He made a school record 110 3-point field goals, in leading Pitt to a 22-11 record (12-8 ACC), fourth-place league finish, and an ACC Tournament semifinal appearance.

Hinson shot a career-best 42.1 percent from three-point range and finished tied for 11th in the ACC record books in three-point field goals.

Valladay transferred to Virginia in 2021 where she spent her next two seasons. She started in 51 of 55 games throughout her two years and averaged 9.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. The former Lady Lion guard led the team in assists and steals in both her seasons. She ranked seventh in the ACC in assists per game and ninth in assist to turnover ration during her senior year.
