TYRONE — Tytus Novak had a goal and an assist to help Tyrone knock off Penn Cambria, 4-0, in high school boys soccer on Saturday.

Jake Baker had three assists for the Golden Eagles. Noah Gulvas, Grant Miller and Ned Smearman also scored for Tyrone.

Collin Etters scored four goals, and Luke Mitchell kept Williamsport scoreless in goal in a 6-0 victory for the Altoona boys soccer team on Saturday at Mansion Park.

Carson Crawford and Braxton Eckenrode added goals for the Mountain Lions, who improved to 9-1.

Lady Lions shine

The Altoona Area High School girls soccer team won its eighth-straight contest with a 4-1 win over Williamsport at Mansion Park on Saturday.

Sophia O’Dea had a goal and an assist for the Lady Lions, who improved to 8-2.

Ajaycia Alexander and Alli Little also scored for Altoona, and Ava Frye had two assists.

B-A makes final

BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis won Pool C with a 6-0 record in pool play against Mount Union, Homer-Center and Saint Joseph’s to earn the top seed in the Gold Bracket of the Bellwood-Antis Invitational on Saturday in high school girls volleyball play.

The Lady Devils topped Philipsburg-Osceola in the semifinals but fell to Bald Eagle Area in the championship game.

In the Silver Bracket, fifth-seeded Juniata Valley topped Mount Union, 25-13, top-seeded St. Joseph’s, 25-16, and Everett, 25-22, in the championship match.

Altoona ousted

MECHANICSBURG — Tyrone topped Altoona, 25-22, in the play-in round of the Silver Bracket playoffs at the Cumberland Valley Invitational girls volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Altoona lost 25-18, 22-25, 15-13 to Dallastown, 25-17, 25-17, to North Allegheny and 22-25, 25-18, 15-8, to Middletown in pool play.

Altoona got 19 kills, 14 digs and four aces from Ellaina Saylor, 22 digs and 13 service points from Karinna Wolfe and 57 assists, 18 digs and two blocks from Sami Page on the day.
