Lady Tigers qualify for states

From Mirror reports

The District 6 champion Hollidaysburg Area girls golf team learned this week that it received an at-large qualification into Wednesday’s PIAA Class 3A championship at the Penn State White Course.

The Lady Tigers finished second in their PIAA regional, falling by six strokes to McDowell, but after District 11 and 12 did not meet the qualification of finishing with a score lower than 300 at districts to qualify for states, at-large teams that were runners-up in regionals advanced, including Hollidaysburg.

“District 11 and 12 did not advance a team,” District 6 golf chairman Mike Hudak said. “They then look at second-place teams from the regional tournaments and apply a formula with course rating and course slope and the team score. Hollidaysburg got one of the at-large slots.”

The Lady Tigers will compete against regional qualifiers Downingtown West, Manheim Township, Jersey Shore, Peters Township and McDowell along with fellow at-large qualifiers Conestoga and Fox Chapel.

Crosby Denis, who will also compete Monday and Tuesday in the individual championship as the District 6 champion, Maliah Malausky, Laila Panaro, Lexi Peacock and Lucy Carles will compete for Hollidaysburg in Wednesday’s championship.

Starting at $2.99/week.
