Penn Cambria, B-A are moving on

MARION CENTER — Penn Cambria knocked off Marion Center, 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9, to pull off a No. 9 seed over No. 8 seed upset in the District 6 Class 2A girls volleyball first round Thursday night.

The Lady Panthers, who got 18 kills from Loren Stipanovich, will play at top-seeded Richland in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Addyson Hite added 17 kills and six blocks, Sophia Rabatin had 25 assists and Reese Swires finished with 23 digs.

“I am so proud of these girls and their resiliency,” Penn Cambria coach Travis Schluep said. “They have developed a great attitude about moving on from mistakes and earning the next point. Sophia did a great job getting the ball to our middles who made big plays when we needed them. Ultimately, this was a team win. When we needed it, our passers made great passes, our setter made great sets and our hitters put the ball away.”
