Two WRs entering portal

From Mirror reports

Penn State’s wide receiver position is undergoing a total overhaul.

Two more WRs entered the transfer portal on Tuesday — leading receiver Trey Wallace and Omari Evans.

Wallace caught 46 passes for 720 yards and four touchdowns. His move to the portal was first reported by CBS Sports.

Evans caught five touchdown passes for the Nittany Lions this past season. His move was reported by ON3.

Evans caught 21 passes for 415 receiving yards and led the Nittany Lions with 19.8 yards per reception. Three of his TDs came in the last Lions’ last five games as his role was expanding.

Penn State’s wide receiver struggles in 2024 were well documented. The Lions did not complete a pass to a wide receiver in the loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal last week.

State has already landed two receivers from the portal — USC’s Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross of Troy.

The status of potential WR returnees Liam Clifford and freshmen Tyseer Denmark and Anthony Ivey remain unclear.

Tuesday night, two-year starting linebacker Kobe King announced he’s entering the NFL Draft.

In other PSU roster news, center Nick Dawkins and defensive end Smith Vilbert announced on Twitter that they are returning to PSU for 2025. It will be the sixth season for Dawkins and seventh for Vilbert.

Meanwhile, the move of defensive coordinator Tom Allen from Penn State to Clemson was confirmed Tuesday.

According to the Greenville (S.C.) News, Allen agreed to a three-year contract worth an average of $2 million per year. He made $1.5 at Penn State last year, according to the Centre Daily Times.

Allen, formerly the head coach at Indiana, issued a statement Tuesday thanking Penn State coach James Franklin and said he’s looking forward to his next stop.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity that Coach (Dabo) Swinney has given me to lead the defense,” he said. “I have admired him from afar for years and look forward to working for him and with his defensive staff. I remain incredibly grateful for the opportunity James Franklin gave me to be part of Penn State football, a championship-caliber program in every respect that will continue to compete at the highest level. I wish PSU nothing but the best and loved my time there.

“My family is very important to me and this move provides us the unique opportunity of living close to our daughters. Our children have made countless sacrifices throughout the years in the coaching profession and this move brings us together. I can’t wait to get to work with this Clemson staff and team.”

Allen’s son, Thomas, a defensive analyst for Penn State last year, is also joining the Clemson staff.

Starting at $2.99/week.
