The Penn State Altoona baseball team split a Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, twinbill with Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, losing 5-3 in extra innings in game 1 while coming back to take the nightcap,9-8, in extra innings.
The Nittany Lions (13-21, AMCC 4-8) got a big game from Tyreke Green in the victory. He went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI. Teammate Zach Ingold added two hits, including his fifth homer of the season, along with an RBI and three runs scored.
Penn State won the game when Corey Chamberlain doubled home the winning run in the 10th inning. Jake Hillard added his fifth home run of the season to go with three RBIs. Sean Wing pitched a scoreless inning for the victory.
The Mount (23-10, AMCC 5-5), got a two-run double from Sidric Grove in the loss. He finished with three RBIs on four hits. Teammates Tyler Quade, Ryan Bushey, Jeremy Eck and Owen McDermott all had two hits.
In the Mount’s 5-3 victory in eight innings, McDermott had three more hits plus an RBI to go with two hits from Bushey and two RBIs from Tyler Day. Winning pitcher Troy Misiura worked all eight innings, finishing with seven strikeouts and two walks while giving up six hits.

Hillard had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for Penn State. Chamberlain had the other RBI on a solo home run.
Juniata heading for Final 4
HUNTINGDON — The Juniata men’s volleyball team received a bid to the 2025 Division III NCAA Men’s Volleyball Final Four in Virginia after their victories against Wentworth and Nichols in the quarterfinals round this past weekend.
Juniata set the program record for wins on Saturday, notching its 31st victory of the season against Nichols.The Eagles also reached the NCAA Final Four for the second time in program history.
The Eagles will face Southern Virginia, which got the best of Juniata during the regular season and in the Continental Volleyball Conference Championship. Southern Virginia is coming off a 33-1 season, with the lone loss coming against fellow Final Four participant Springfield on March 29.
In the other semifinal, Springfield (24-4), which knocked off Carthage (3-2) in the quarterfinals, will play defending champions California Lutheran, which defeated undefeated and No. 1-seeded New York University in the quarterfinals.
The 2025 NCAA Division III Final Four takes place in Roanoke at the Cregger Center Saturday at 5 p.m. with a potential championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Lions in the semis
No. 3 seed Penn State men’s volleyball swept No. 6 seed Harvard in the quarterfinals of the EIVA Tournament at Dillon Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Nittany Lions (12-15) will play New Jersey Institute of Technology in the semifinals of the EIVA Tournament tonight.
The Nittany Lions are now 12-15 overalland 8-4 in the EIVA.
Will Kuhns and Matt Luoma were the catalysts in Penn State’s sweep as the duo combined for 21 of the team’s 36 kills.
